Apartment ST

The project concerns the renovation of a mid-twentieth century apartment in the neighbourhood of Alvalade, in Lisbon. This economic housing neighborhood, designed in the 40s of the twentieth century by the urbanist and architect Faria da Costa, displays unique urban experiences.
The aim of the project was to preserve the aesthetic memory of what was once a mid-twentieth century apartment, within the specific urban context of Alvalade, maximizing the use of the space with functional and organizational changes, updating materials and equipment, so that the space could be inhabited in a more contemporary way.
The footer, the original moldings, and the old wood parquet flooring are the three aspects that allow more objectively the reinterpretation of the flat. They also form the conducting wire that tells the story of the house.
A traffic-yellow volume in the kitchen, a dark grey in the living room, and another one in a turquoise toilet, will set and characterise some areas, marking the image of this apartment.
