APARTMENT EC19
REFURBISHMENT . BUILT . MARVILA . LISBON . PORTUGAL . 2019
The architecture design approach for the refurbishment of the Apartment EC19 took the beautiful view over the Tagus river and the Museu Nacional do Azulejo as the main inspiration. The green and blue palettes stand out from the landscape and influence this project.
The goal in this refurbishment was to clearly make the space bigger and appealing. In order to do that, we used resistant and simples materials in a clean interior design solution. By restoring and extending the wooden pavement of the living room to the kitchenette, we were able to produce the visual effect of enlargement of the room. The bathroom was updated with new flooring and wall mosaic tiles, in a pastel green tone, offering a calm sense to the space. Built-in mixers and a rain shower were also installed. The scale of each space was designed to emphasise the living space and the connection to the exterior. All the walls, ceilings and wall skirts were painted white, except for the kitchenette, which pops out with a trendy colour inspired in the views.
These were some of the strategies of the intervention, that transformed a dull small apartment in a modern, luminous and interesting space with a beautiful view over the Tagus river.
